Beschreibung

Annelise Kretschmer (1903–1987) is one of the most important German photographers. Her works already enjoyed an international reputation during the Weimar Republic. With her particular interest in and her sense for people, she was able to create poignant portrait photos that are considered the outstanding characteristic work of her 56-year photographic career. The LWL-Museum für Kunst und Kultur in Münster, which has been administering Kretschmer’s estate since the end of 2019, is dedicating a special exhibition to the Dortmund-born photographer in the spring of 2022. It will illuminate all creative phases and make her preferred motif, the portrait, a special focus of interest.
